Khizr Khan, a Pakistani Muslim American Lawyer, spoke at the Democratic National Convention this past summer. According to the NY Times, he was originally asked to stand on stage while they made a tribute to his son, whom had died as a Captain in Iraq in 2004. However later he was asked if he wanted to say a few words, and if he wanted any help coming up with a speech, Mr. Khan said he didn't need any help because he had been holding all of his thoughts in his mind for so many years. During his speech at the DNC, he called out Donald Trump on many things, one quote that really stands out is when Mr. Khan says "You [Trump] have sacrificed nothing and no one", and "want(s) to build walls and ban us [Muslims] from this country." He later said "Let me ask you [Trump]: Have you even read the United States Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy". He then proceeded to pull out a pocket sized version of the constitution. Mr. Khan also mentioned his son, and how while he was in Iraq he only focused on protecting his men, and that's all he would talk about. After his son had died, Mr. Khan and wife moved to North Carolina where their other sons lived. And every year, Mr. Khan hosts an ROTC dinner, where he hands soldiers their own pocketbook version of the Constitution.
